Fruit harvest

During the months of September and October, project partners harvested the fruit that was trialling the proprietary fruit protection bags.

For GOLDEN APPLES, white and red biodegradable bags were trialled along with a control. The date of harvest was 17/09/18.

For PEACHES, white biodegradable and traditional paraffin bags were trialled. Fruit was harvested on 20/09/18.

Finally, FUJI APPLES trialled red biodegradable bags along with a control. These apples were harvested on 24/10/18.

After harvesting, during the months of September and October, PCTAD carried out physio-chemical tests such as: texture, color, soluble solids, titratable acidity, calibre etc. They also froze samples to be able to carry out nutritional tests during the winter months. Finally, they realized analyses of pesticide residues both inside the fruit and on the skins.
