Placement of biomulching and sowing begin

For the beginning of Action B3 regarding pre-harvesting tests, the small-scale experiments with sowing of peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers began last week at the farm of the Sociedad Cooperativa de Frutas y Hortalizas San Lamberto. By the end of May and beginning of June, it is also expected that experiments with the biodegradable fruit protection bags on apple and peach trees begin at the EEAD-CSIC’s facilities.

The previous steps before sowing included land preparation, tree trimming and biomulching placement, only after which were saplings planted.

This action will last until 2018, compiling data from small and large-scale tests throughout the project. Pictures of the first planting can be seen below.
